Rod graduated from the University of Lowell (now University of Massachusetts) in May 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. During his college years he interned with local CPA firms and worked for the IRS. In 1989, Rod completed his Masters Degree in Taxation at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts.
His first full-time job after college in 1982 was as a Tax Officer at the Cambridge Trust Company in Harvard Square specializing in individual, trust, and estate taxation. Several years later in 1985 he took a position as a Tax Manager at the Bank of New England. During his tenure at this bank, Rod had the opportunity to be a Trust Officer/Assistant Vice President and managed in a fiduciary role the trust accounts for hundreds of high-net-worth individuals. The New England real estate market collapse in early 1990 caused the bank to fail and Rod moved over to the Bank of Boston as a Senior Tax Consultant in their Trust Department. At the urging of one of his former bosses from Bank of New England, Rod later moved over to Investors Bank and Trust Company in Boston as a Trust Officer and managed a group of large high net worth clients.
Sunny weather and a wonderful job opportunity awaited Rod in 1994 as he moved to South Florida. He accepted a position at Price Waterhouse LLP in Miami and became a Tax Manager. He worked for PW for 3 years. In 1997 a terrific opportunity awaited Rod at Ernst & Young LLP in West Palm Beach. He took over a Tax Manager position and was later promoted to Senior Tax Manager in the Tax Compliance Department. He had a tremendous opportunity to travel the country training his associates in the new policies and procedures of the National Tax Compliance Department and in issues of tax law.
Rod later took a position in a local firm Kaufman, Rossin CPAs in Miami for a couple of years and gained a wealth of experience in the estate tax area and more importantly he learned firsthand how to run a grow a professional accounting practice.
In 2002 Rod decided that he was ready to start his own practice. In late 2004 Rod had the opportunity to purchase Boca Palm Accounting Inc. from a former Ernst & Young associate where he has been President since. The firm is a small local firm but has a wide variety of clients and types of businesses. Boca Palm Accounting Inc. specializes in tax preparation and planning, bookkeeping services.
